Original PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest – H3 (OEM)

The PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest – H3 is the missing item for the Aeron chair to provide support all the way to the neck. It’s the most sold headrest ever designed for the Aeron chairs. With this upgrade, the user can finally lean back and rest long while keeping their posture locked.

The PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest – H3 is the most recommended upgrade we advise users to adopt. It is designed to be fully adjustable to suit your body’s position. What’s different compared to the other headrests is its adjustability. It can be adjusted in its height, depth and angle. The Ergonomic Aeron Headrest – HR03 Standard has a free-flowing design, which adjusts as the user tilts. Users can make adjustments easily from a seated position.

Main advantages:

  • Patented design for total adjustment with better maneuverability. Height, Depth & Tilt Control
  • The concave cushion is designed to keep the head better positioned and from sliding off while taking naps.
  • Highly adjustable, can be tilted to most angles to fit all users.
  • Synchronized angling and fluid motion when the user tilts
  • Flexibility in extending to both height and depth.
  • Able to lock positions for most joints. (Most headrest designs sold in the market have a problem with locking in the depth).
  • Mesh design – No entrapment of body heat causing discomfort.
  • Better flexibility on the mesh to facilitate contouring.

The PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest  – H3 had always been called the missing piece for the Aeron chair.
It empties every gap from your lower spine to your neck, forming the perfect support. To support the head the best spot to support is the neck. Else pushing the head too much may result in the forward head posture.

Forward head syndrome
Depth can be adjusted to avoid pushing the head too forward

As the PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest – H3 is fully adjustable, you can tune the right angle to fit the position of your neck and how much support is necessary. The Aeron Ergonomic Headrest – H3 Standard fits so snugly that you can’t move much out of your correct posture. It’s probably the best upgrade for the chair.

PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest Adjustment Guide

Tension adjustment

FAQ: My headrest doesn’t lock into place. Is there something wrong with it?

Answer: No, this is by design. Engineered Now knows that no one stays in one position all day. The headrests are designed to be free-flowing and move with you, and adjustments are made easily from a seated position.

If you do find the need to have a stronger hold, you can refer to the instructions below to adjust the tension.

Warning: Do not tighten too much to avoid cracking the frame.

Tightening the screw above will adjust the tension of the headrest’s rotation and the tightness of the up-down action. Note that the headrest should not hold tightly in the up-down position. It is meant to provide a synchronized movement as the person tilts.

Remastered or Classic Aeron?

The easiest way to tell is from the weaving or posture fit design. The design of the gearbox below the seat is also different.

The classic Aerons had phased out for several years. If your chair was purchased before 2016, it’s the Classic.

If you purchased a new chair recently. It should be a remastered Aeron.

Is this PosturePilot Aeron Ergonomic Headrest original?

Herman Miller has not released any official or original headrest for Aeron. Third-party companies produce all the headrests seen in the market.

Is this the original headrest from Engineered Now?

This headrest seen in this listing is NOT from Engineered Now. Engineered Now does not produce its headrests; they are all produced in Taiwan. If you are looking for the original Engineered Now headrests, refer to Engineered Now Aeron Headrest

The Posture Pilot headrest on this page is from the OEM Taiwan factory directly with slight differences in feature and material. If any, we think they are mainly improvements that users feedbacked.

What is the difference between PosturePilot OEM and Engineered Now?

The main difference is the type of material used.
PosturePilot is made with pure and new resins sourced directly from Germany instead of using recycled plastic.
This is significant as recycled plastic contains impurities that compromise on the structural integrity and may degas toxic fumes.

Below are the main differences based on the latest design. As they are the direct production line, they may react swiftly and make amendments for various reasons. We can’t guarantee that the designs will always be the same. Any changes are supposed to be improvements or necessary.

The original adjustment rod on the left has a smooth surface. Some users complain that the positioning slips too easily. The adjustment rod on the Taiwan OEM allows stepped adjustments to hold positions better.

Cushioning material to reduce the risk of scratches.

We notice a better finish on the frame—a closer match to the original chair. The mesh is almost identical and matches the Aeron chair perfectly.

Installation is similar to the Engineered Now; users can take them as a reference.

Only one screw has to be tightened.

Will the headrest void my warranty?

From the investigation video below, it seems that only if the headrest does structural damage to the chair or mechanism will it be considered voiding the warranty. This includes drilling into the frame to secure the headrest, which none of the headrests mentioned on our website does. This includes the Engineered Now and Atlas headrests attached to the chair by tightening a bolt mechanism to secure them.

The new PosturePilot Ergonomic Aeron Headrests even have cushion pads to reduce scratches. It is hard to find evidence that that headrest was ever attached.
